We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This page is an honest statement of what is in place, what has been tested, and what has not. We do not claim a finished audit.
Commitment
UCD Coach should be usable with keyboard, screen reader, zoom and reduced motion. Colour is never the only cue for hype or gate.
What we have tested
Local HTML, keyboard and browser click-through on 10 September 2026. Skip link, one h1 per page, landmarks, focus, 24px targets, en-GB, and labelled gate and hype chips were checked on those passes.
Limits
No full axe or BrowserStack live pass has been completed. Production at ucdcoach.com still needs Idris’s AA live-pass. Some older magazine-style components remain off the primary path and are not claimed as audited.
In place now
- A skip link that moves keyboard focus to the main content on every page.
- Keyboard-usable controls, including the mobile menu (Escape closes it).
- A visible focus ring, with scroll padding so the sticky header does not hide focused controls.
- Touch and pointer targets of at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels on primary controls.
- British English, with source, date, hype label and one move on every briefing.
- Gate tags are the words Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live — not colour alone.
- Try this week uses labelled Hypothesis, Method and Kill when the feed supplies all three; otherwise a Your move heading.
- Surf handoff links include the topic title, not an icon alone.
- New-tab links announce that they open in a new tab.
- A server-rendered 404 with a document title and an h1.
