Figma folded its MCP server and canvas agent into normal release notes months ago — it's now a working feature, not a keynote demo. If you're on Figma + Penpot, this is currently a Figma-only advantage worth understanding.
Figma's **MCP server** lets AI clients like Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT read and write directly to your Figma files via a `use_figma` tool, keeping code and design in sync as work moves back and forth. The canvas agent sits inside the file itself, tuned to your components and tokens, working alongside you rather than in a separate chat window.
This rolled into core release notes as a standard capability, not a limited beta — that's why it counts as adoption, not hype. For anyone running Figma alongside Penpot, it's worth flagging: Penpot doesn't have an equivalent yet, so this is a real gap between the two tools right now.
